The Fifa Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Spanish clubs Atletico de Madrid and Real Madrid for breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18. The two clubs were found to have violated several provisions concerning the international transfer and first registration of minor players as well as other relevant provisions with regard to the registration and participation of certain players in competitions.
Both clubs are to serve a transfer ban that prevents them from registering any players at national and international level for the next two complete and consecutive registration periods for breaching articles 5, 9, 19 and 19bis as well as annexes 2 and 3 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (the “Regulations”). The transfer ban, which does not affect the current registration period at all, given that it opened before the decisions were notified, applies to each club as a whole – with the exception of the women’s, futsal and beach soccer teams – and does not prevent the release of players.
Additionally, Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid have been fined CHF 900,000 and CHF 360,000 respectively, while both clubs have been issued with a reprimand and given 90 days in which to regularise the situation of all minor players concerned.
The decisions, which were notified to the parties concerned today, were made based on the specific elements of each case. They follow investigations initially conducted by Fifa Transfer Matching System GmbH (Fifa TMS) and subsequently by the Fifa Disciplinary Committee as part of disciplinary proceedings. The investigations concerned minor players who were involved and participated in competitions with the clubs over various periods between 2007 and 2014 (Atlético de Madrid) and between 2005 and 2014 (Real Madrid).
Fifa works hard to protect the rights of players under the age of 18 – whether male or female, amateur or professional. This is done through the enforcement of regulations prohibiting the international transfer of minors, or the first registration of minors in a country other than their own, except in specific circumstances (cf. art. 19 of the Regulations) that must be approved by the sub-committee appointed by the Players’ Status Committee. As such, the provisions relating to the protection of minors need to be strictly applied. This has been confirmed on various occasions by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Opening up the door to exceptions beyond those carefully drafted and included in the Regulations would unavoidably lead to cases of circumvention of the rationale for these provisions.”

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of communication and culture has disclosed that some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are under investigation for corruption, The Guardian reports.
Mohammed was reacting to allegations in some quarters that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was selective in its war against corruption.
According to him, Buhari’s administration is committed to fighting corruption to a standstill and any Nigerian, irrespective of tribe of party affiliation, found to have soiled his hands with public fund would be brought to book.
He said: “A major fault which has been exploited to weaken the anti-corruption efforts is the ethno-religious consideration. Instead of focusing on the social impact of corruption, we are rather concerned about the religious or ethnicity of those who are being accused of corruption.
“This is ultimately counter-productive and weakening the anti-corruption fight.”

EFCC may arrest NFF boss.

Trouble looms for the Nigeria Football Federation chairman Amaju Pinnick as the National Association of Sports Industry and Market have filed a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing him of awarding a N150 million contract to his own company.
Reports that the petitioners revealed the Delta state born sports administrator allegedly awarded the contract of furnishing the new secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the National Stadium Abuja, the Sunday Dankaro Football House, Package B, to Valerino Interiors at the cost of N150 million, using Obi Nwosu as a front.
It was also disclosed that the NFF under the watchful eyes of Pinnick allegedly misappropriated the grant given to it by the world football governing body FIFA for the development of Women and Grassroots Sports in 2015, as well as the monies given to the federation when the Super Eagles qualified for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Dreaded armed robbery gang writes letter to Lagos communities

Residents of Ojo and Badagry in Lagos state have been thrown into a state of panic following a letter reportedly written to them by a dreaded armed robbery gang known as One Million Boys in the area.
PM News reports that the letter was written to the community residents following the arrest of four members of the gang after their recent operation in the area that left many residents injured, and many others losing their valuables to the gang.
The gang reportedly informed the residents of their coming and asked them to keep money for them or be prepared to face their death in their hands, a situation which was discovered to have put many of the residents in panic mode.
Some residents who confirmed the recent attacks and the threat letter sent by the gang, told PM News that they now live in fear and have decided to mobilise to stay awake all night as no fewer than 100 members of the gang struck in the night recently.
Ojo, Iba, Shibiri, Agbara, Afromedia, Okokomaiko, Ijanikin and other areas located in Ojo and Badagry local government areas are some of the areas of the robbers reportedly wrote the letter to.

“Let it be known to Nigerians and the entire World that, Tompolo will never wage a war against the Federal Government, as he has sworn in 2009 when he accepted the Presidential amnesty declared by late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
“He has kept faith with Nigeria. He has promised to work with the present administration unconditionally, and he stands by that declaration.
“He was seriously troubled by the recent pipeline bombing incident, because he has provided security for these pipelines even when the government refused to pay him. And so, he could not have been the one to damage same pipelines.”

Tompolo said “it is the biggest lie of the year, as the military is also aware of the boats and pick-up vans he purchased in 2011 for the surveillance of oil facilities as he was working hand in hand with the military then.
“Tompolo is a man of peace and he is poised for the development of the coastal Niger Delta region. He prays that this matter be amicably resolved so that everyone will know that he always put his people above his person gains.”
“And true to his fears, these set of APC chieftains that joined the party immediately after the presidential election of 2015, were the first people to accuse him of bombing the pipelines to divert public attention.

Tompolo stated this in a statement on Thursday morning, saying that his legal team is ready for his day in court.
A statement by Comrade Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo’s media aide, denied his involvement in the January 15 bombing of oil facilities in Warri.

This is a clear testimony of their involvement in the bombing of the pipelines. Since then, we all have seen their role in misleading the military and the general public.

“Now, it could be recalled that this same Africanus Ukparasia threatened Tompolo not to show interest in the elections, as he was a strong supporter of the APC candidate. He killed and maimed fellow Ijaw people because of a governorship election, and now he is the one accusing Tompolo of bombing pipelines.”
